Our community's loss We are sad to let you know that Michael P. Lazorchak, the league's president since 2004, died suddenly on January 3, 2008. Mr. Lazorchak, a retired United States Air Force Colonel, served our country with distinction for almost three decades. But it was Mr. Lazorchak's longstanding commitment to Phoebus that won him a permanent place in our hearts. The task could be very complex: working on the completion and approval of a new master plan in 2007, guiding the creation of a national historic district in 2006, or participating in the ongoing reuse process for Fort Monroe. The task could also be simple: making wreaths or putting up holiday decorations. But whatever the challenge, Mr. Lazorchak was there for us. His strategic vision, skills as a community leader and ability to find consensus were the envy of many, but he took personal pride not in his accomplishments but in the renaissance of Phoebus. Mr. Lazorchak was the first paying customer at Six and relished showing off the Phoebus Coffee House, our first historic district restoration project. In short,
Mr. Lazorchak was a gentle man who dearly loved his family and our
community, and always wanted the best for both. Phoebus will miss him. We will miss him. Click here to read Mr. Lazorchak's obituary. |
